Quantum algorithms and quantum software are crucial for the success of quantum computing, as they enable quantum computers to solve a variety of problems. University of Latvia has been in quantum algorithms research since late 1990s and is now among the European leaders in this field. I will describe how we entered this research field and our results on quantum algorithms and use cases for quantum computing.
